How do I test it?
All sensors from tattletale are pre-tested before shipment by our technicians.
If you wish to test this sensor yourself, use a glass break simulator (Intellisense FG-701) in the area of the window or windows that are being protected.
The glass break detector must first acknowledge the detection of a thud sound by illuminating the green LED and then illuminating the red LED when the unit detects the crash portion of the glass breaking sound.
MOUNTING
Where should I mount the sensor?
Because the sound of breaking glass travels directionally out from the broken window, the best location to mount the Glass Break Detector is on a wall or other vertical surface no more than 15' directly opposite of the window you want to protect, 7’ to 10’.
Mount the sensor with the test button towards the floor.

How does this sensor work?
The Glass Break Detector is designed to detect the breaking of tempered, coated, plate, and multi-pane glass.
2-stage detection requires there to be a thud of an object hitting glass and the breaking of the glass to take place in order to trip the sensor.
Can the detector hear glass breaking outside of my home?
No, the sensor cannot hear through walls or windows.
Will breaking plexiglass set it off?
No. Plexiglass does not make the same sound that is needed to trip the sensor.
What is the typical battery life of the Glass Break?
The typical battery life is 2-3 years. However, in a noisy environment the battery life will be diminished.
For optimal battery life, keep sensor away from sources of sound such as speakers, televisions, noisy kitchens, etc.
