TESTING

TESTING

Place the transmitter and magnet together aligning the magnet to the three ridges on the transmitter. Separate them, and see if a corresponding Sensor light shows on your home screen.

See photo.

MOUNTING

How should this sensor be placed?

The magnet needs to be placed within 1/2" of the transmitter. The magnet should face the transmitter side with three ridges.

There can be a gap between the two, but mounting them on a metal door or metal frame may reduce the distance. Also, do not mount these near the hinge side of the door.

How far away from the Base Unit can I place a Door/Window Sensor?

The accessory will work up to a maximum of 300' away from the base unit.

Frequently Asked Questions

MORE

How does this sensor work?

When your door or window is opened, the connection between the magnet and the transmitter is broken, thereby tripping the sensor.

What is the battery life?

The average battery life is 2-3 years.

Can I change the battery?

Yes. To change the battery, open the plastic case and put in the new battery positive side up.

To open the plastic case, carefully insert a dime or like object into the groove on the transmitter and lightly twist clockwise.

See photo.

I have the door closed and the unit still stays tripped. Why?

Check to make sure the magnet is close enough and is in the correct position. Verify that the magnet is aligned with the three ridges on the transmitter. See photo.

Make sure the sensor cover is securely closed.

Can I use a Door/Window Sensor outside?

No, do not use this sensor outside. It is not waterproof and it will be damaged by water.

Can a strong wind set off the sensor?

Wind can trip the sensor only if the door or window moves too much in the wind, causing the connection to break.

Can I use this for my garage door?

No. These sensors are only recommended for inside use.
