Rate of Rise Sensor
The Rate of Rise Sensor is ideal for smoky or dusty environments. This sensor detects when there is a 15 degree F change in ambient temperature within 60 seconds or less, or when ambient temperature reaches 194 degrees F.

TESTING
How do I test it?
IMPORTANT: Your tattletale base unit does not need to be armed to send an alarm from any fire sensors, including your Rate of Rise Sensor.
Please call us at 1-888-TELL-ON-U to place your account on test before testing or servicing this sensor in any way.
Failure to do this can cause deployment of the fire department.
MOUNTING
Where should I mount this sensor?
This best location for this sensor is at a high point where heat will build, ideally on the ceiling. The recommended mounting height is 15-16 ft. Higher ceilings can adversely affect detection time.
When mounting multiple Rate of Rise sensors, it is recommended that they be spaced 50 ft. apart.
When selecting the location on the ceiling for the Rate of Rise Sensor, DO NOT mount in the direct path of hot or cold air flow, as this may affect the sensitivity of the sensor and/or cause alarm events.
Frequently Asked Questions
MORE
Once the sensor has been tripped, can you use it again, or is it a one-time use device?
The Rate of Rise sensor can only be reused if the temperature in the room doesn't reach 200 degrees. We recommend that every Rate of Rise sensor be tested after any fire exposure.
Does the sensor trip at a certain temperature, regardless of how slow the rate of rise in temperature is?
Yes. The sensor uses two forms of detection. The first monitors how quickly the temperature rises, and the second detects when the temperature reaches a level of 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
How do I know when the battery is low?
You will know that the battery in the Rate of Rise sensor needs to be changed when its corresponding Zone Light in the tattletale begins to flash rapidly.
How long does the battery last?
The 3V Lithium battery that is included will typically last for about 2-3 years.
Once the sensor trips, how do I turn it off?
To turn off the Rate of Rise sensor, assuming the temperature did not rise above 200 degrees Fahrenheit, you will need to enter your master code and hit "#" twice. The Zone Light should then stop flashing.
